Turkey is sometimes classified as an Eastern European country, sometimes as a Middle Eastern or Near Eastern country. All of this is true. However, one of the more accurate descriptions of Turkey's geographical location is that it is a 'Levant' country. The word Levant, originally a French word, describes countries with coastlines on the Eastern Mediterranean. Turkey has a coastline of approximately 5,000 kilometers, which is more than the total length of Turkey's borders with its neighbors.
It is a perfect example of the Levant definition.
