Information About Air Caraibes

Air Caraibes is a French airline based in the French West Indies, with its small hub at Les Abymes in Guadeloupe. It operates scheduled and charter services in the West Indies, as well as transatlantic flights based at Paris Orly Airport in Metropolitan France. The airline was initially founded as Société Caribéenne de Transports Aériens and began operations in September 1994. In 2000, Air Guadeloupe was acquired by Groupe Dubreuil, which had previously founded Air Vendée and rebranded it as a regional airline before the airline was acquired by Air France. The current Air Caraibes was formed in July 2000 by the merger of several local airlines. Air Guadeloupe, Air Martinique, Air Saint Barthélémy and Air Saint Martin were created in response to the air transportation needs of the French Caribbean territories. In 2002 the company flew 445,000 passengers and earned €68 million in revenue. Currently operating 12 aircraft in its fleet, Air Caraibes operates both a regional network in the West Indies and a transatlantic long-haul network based at Paris Orly Airport in France.
